Umbellifer Lent Retreat

Monday 23rd March

 (Arrivals from 9.30am) Start 10am – 3pm. COST: £40

The Gospel of John invites us not to master a text, but to be mastered by a presence. Again and again, John resists hurried explanation and instead draws us into encounter: with the Word made flesh, with a Christ who comes near, asks questions, lingers, and abides. In this Gospel, Scripture becomes not simply something we interpret, but a living place where God meets us now.
Rooted in the Gospel of John, the retreat invites participants not to achieve or explain, but to come and see—to attend to Christ who meets us where we are and calls us to abide. This contemplative day offers time to pause, listen, and dwell in God’s presence, creating space for renewal in the midst of faithful ministry. Ministers are warmly invited to come as they are and receive the day as gift.

This Lenten retreat offers ministers a spacious, unhurried day shaped by prayer, silence, and attentive reading of Scripture — a quiet, spacious time to tend to your own soul in the midst of ministry.

Intentionally spacious and unhurried, the retreat offers time to step out of the pressures to produce, explain, or lead, and instead to come and see, to remain, and to abide. The hope is not to add more, but to make room — trusting that fruitfulness belongs to God, and that renewal begins where we allow ourselves to be met.

Retreat Includes: Guided reflections through John’s Gospel, times of silence and spaciousness, optional creative engagement. Refreshments & lunch provided.

Cost: £40 (Refreshments, lunch and materials included)) There are 12 spaces.
